Thinking you want to WooHoo too? The WooHoo Sistahs have now opened enrollment for all like-minded women in Hampton Roads. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at various beach locations and look forward to getting to know you! Join our group and help us help those less fortunate and give to cancer research. Remember that fantastic group of girls you loved dearly back in grade school… the ones that you swore would be your “best friends forever”? Yes? Well, we aren’t those girls. But we do share so much with that grade school dynamic... except we can drive, we go to work, we pay bills, mom no longer does our hair every morning AND sometimes, after a really tough day at the office we go share an adult beverage with our friends — and that’s how the WooHoo Sistahs got started.
The founding Sistahs began as a gathering of coworkers stunned to discover how much they had in common when the conversation expanded beyond work and included all the other things they would LIKE to do with their time. One thing led to another, the shenanigans to a name — the WOOHOO SISTAHS**— the idle chatter to a plan, the plan to nonprofit incorporation and the nonprofit to where we are today... a crazy group of women supportingour charities, philanthropy and each other and having a whole lot of fun in the process.
**why 'woohoo' and why 'sistahs' you ask? Well... since you brought it up, DebY was always calling us the sisters she never had and we had a tendency to yell 'woohoo!' whenever there was something to celebrate, get excited over, emphasize---- or sometimes just as a greeting upon the appearance of a late arriving sistah --- so we dubbed ourselves [naturally] the WOOHOO SISTAHS!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways --- champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other --- a body totally used up and worn out, screaming... WOOHOO, what a ride!
Get Yourself Some Sistahs!
Sistahs bring casseroles and scrub your bathroom when you are sick. Sistahs keep your children, your pets, your secrets. Sistahs give advice when you ask for it...and sometimes when you don't. Sistahs don't always tell you that you're right, but they tell you they are right behind you, because Sistahs still love you, even when they don't agree with your choices. Sistahs might send you a birthday card or they might not, and it does not matter in the least. Sistahs laugh with you (or at you)... and you don't need canned jokes to start the laughter. Sistahs pull you out of jams...even better ones help you get into them. Sistahs don't keep a calendar of who hosted who last. Sistahs throw a party for your children when they graduate, get married, have a baby, in whichever order they happen. Sistahs are there for you, in an instant, and truly, when the hard times come. Sistahs listen when you lose a job, a parent, or a husband. Sistahs hug you when your children break your heart. Sistahs cry with you when your parent's minds and bodies fail.
